Data-driven insight from the ABS 2021 Census. The first tranche of the ABS 2021 Census includes the following data topics:
Census Population by Age and Sex: Overview: Population of Australia as at Census night 2021, broken down by five-year age cohorts and by gender. Census population estimates are an undercount and Estimated Resident Population is considered a more accurate measure of resident populations of Australia.
Indigenous Population by Age and Sex: Overview: Population of Indigenous Australians as at Census night 2021, broken down by five-year age cohorts and by gender. Census population estimates are an undercount.
ATSI: Overview: Persons identifying as Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander.
Highest Year of Schooling PoUR: Overview: This variable records the highest level of primary or secondary school a person has completed.
Type of Education Institution Attending: Overview: This variable records the type of educational institution being attended.
Country of Birth: Overview: Country of Birth of Person records an individual's specific country of birth.
Family Composition: Overview: Families are classified in terms of the relationships that exist between a single-family reference person and each other member of that family. The family composition variable distinguishes between different types of families based on the presence or absence of couple relationships, parent-child relationships, child dependency relationships or other familial relationships, in that order of preference.
Dwelling Structure: Overview: This variable classifies the structure of private dwellings enumerated in the Census.
Household Composition: Overview: This variable describes the type of household within a dwelling. Household composition indicates whether a family is present or not and whether or not other unrelated household members are present.
Personal Income: Overview: Indicates the total income that the person usually receives each week.
Household Income: Overview: Indicates the total income that the household usually receives each week.
